In this symposium we will introduce the phenomena from three countries-Germany, Korea, and Japan, The presenters are three specialists of HIKIKOMORI who have different approaches to it-psychoanalytic, psychopathological, sociological, statistical and crosscultural. In addition, two moderators will join the discussion after their presentations.

This lecture is for practitioners who are inexperienced in psychotherapy and those who are interested in metallization based treatment. Mentalization is best known as the basis of psychotherapy in general because it entails attending to mental states in oneself and others. We hope this lecture would stimulate the attendants' clinical experiences.This program has simultaneous interpretation between English and Japanese.

This Symposium is the keynote Symposium of the Congress. Experts of Adolescent Psychiatry including president-elect of ISAPP and JSAP appear and lecture the significance of cultivaty adolescent mental health.

The characteristics of emotional development in adolescence would be discussed from multiple viewpoints. Also, the role and function of adolescent psychiatry foster mental health would be examined.

All through the ages, adolescents face the problems peculiar to their era. Current factors, such as the changes in interpersonal relationships along with the widespread use of social network services, the poverty or wealth disparity, the fear of terrorism, the spreading of racism, and the changes in the diagnostic system in psychiatry, may affect the personality development and its pathology in adolescence.

In this symposium, we would make a comparative discussion of these problems in several regions.

This program will offer an adolescent case of personality disorder and discuss with supervision by Professor Bateman who is one of the leading psychotherapists of personality disorders. The clinical illustration will be composed of a summary and recent session(s) of the case. This program has simultaneous interpretation between English and Japanese.
